So many moments in Return of the Thief where Eugenides gives that “extremely dangerous downright scary but extremely fuckable” vibe. What great literature is about in essence

Thinking about the idea of Gen as a christ figure and how he has both abundant mercy (which especially stands out in King of Attolia) and just wrath (especially in Return of the Thief, which in some ways could serve as a sort of Second Coming bringing judgment and then final victory)

I don't have a lot of coherent thoughts on this but I think it's very interesting how Gen lets the people he wants to get to like him see him at his worst and most annoying, and how these people grow to like him anyway. It says a lot about how Gen sees himself, as well as the careful image he projects, because of course sometimes he is being intentionally annoying, but sometimes he is choosing to reveal the least likable aspects of himself to people who aren't very fond of him at the moment, but he does it so carefully that it works.

I was thinking about Queen’s Thief today, as I often do, and thinking especially about how I am the artist I am today because of the Queen’s Thief’s fandom. I got to share my art as a 12-14 year old in the LJ group Sounis, and be encouraged and thanked for it, and that motivated me to keep drawing. I loved drawing anyway, and would probably always have drawn, but QT gave me a drive to get better at drawing and making art so I could share it with people who loved the books as well.
I love this fandom! And I’m so grateful to it, to all the other QT fans to create amazing content, and especially to @meganwhalenturner for creating something immensely beautiful that constantly inspires me to create art.

I mean I'm glad Eugenides won the war against the Medes and all but also I want to see that au where he goes all assassin revenge mode against the rulers of the Continent

The Thief:
“I can steal anything.”
“Except yourself out of the king’s prison?”
The King of Attolia:
“Do you know, it’s the first time I’ve ever been caught in something I can’t get out of?”
Thick as Thieves:
“It’s a nice coop.”

'Will you serve me and my god?' 'I will, Your Majesty.' 'Then come out,' said the king, helping him, 'knowing that you'll never die of a fall unless the god himself drops you.'
